My first book, _Family Bible_ (NOT a religious book, I assure you) was published in 2008 by University of Iowa Press. I am currently completing a novel set in Tuscaloosa in 1974.

Be nice to me at the reunion. I'm considering a sequel to the memoir as my next project...

School Story:

Contrary to popular belief, I did NOT throw the mouse onto the floor at the pep rally! I would never have done something so cruel. Hell, I cry watching westerns when they shoot buffalo. I DID go out on the floor to rescue the poor creature.

I'm so glad you enjoyed it, Natalie. I was a little bit hesitant to post it since it's so different from most of the posts I see here. I wanted to tell somebody about the dream, though, and I thought maybe I'd take the risk. It's great to hear from you.

Although I was never close friends with Jane and had not spoken with her in decades, I felt so sad to read of her illness and death. It does not surprise me to hear how bravely she struggled. Her sweet smile immediately came into my mind. She shared it with everyone, and I never once heard her make a thoughtless or hurtful comment about another person.  I remember her as such a gentle and kind person, one who treated everyone with respect and consideration. Rest her beautiful soul.
